Where are you from?
I am originally from Plainfield, NJ, and moved to Wilmington, NC when I was 13. Having attended both UNC and Duke (though I’ll always be a Tar Heel), the Triangle has become my home.
What is your educational background?
I began college as a Business major, and though I had little interest, I assumed I would work in the business world. After all, I had to choose something for a career, and I had never considered ministry as an option. As God began to show me that ministry would be my full-time vocation, I changed my major to Public Policy, graduated, and went on to pursue theological studies earning a Master of Divinity degree from Duke University.
Why did you decide to become a minister?
I believed that God was calling me to ministry and knew I would never be truly happy unless I responded positively to that call. It was a decision I have never regretted!
What is your heart for Youth Ministry?
My heart for youth ministry springs from my desire to make disciples. Our belief systems emerge from our early years, making those years a critical time for spiritual development. I want to help youth fully integrate their faith into the rest of their lives, that they may deepen their relationship with God and enjoy a fruitful existence in the world.
What are your away-from-work interests?
I enjoy spending time with friends and staying active: swimming, hiking, biking, climbing, and snowboarding. One of my favorite attractions is the U.S. National Whitewater Center in Charlotte, NC.
What is your favorite scripture?
“...Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart…” (Jer. 1:4)
