The American Heart Association Recognizes

Baptist Grove as a Fit-Friendly Church

The American Heart Association has recognized Baptist Grove as a fit-friendly church and has awarded the church Gold Status Certification.

The American Heart Association’s Fit-Friendly certification program recognizes
employers and clergy who go above and beyond when it comes to their member’s health. A Fit-friendly church reaches gold and platinum level status by
implementing various activities and programs to encourage physical activity,
nutrition and culture enhancements such as on-site walking routes, healthy food
choices in vending machines, promote annual member health risk assessments and other online tools.

Gold-level churches must meet the following criteria:

    1. Offer members physical activity options at the church

    2. Increase healthy eating options at the church

    3. Promote a wellness culture in the church

    4. Implement at least six criteria outlined by the American Heart Association in the areas of physical activity, nutrition and culture

The fit-friendly program is a part of the American Heart Association’s “My Heart. My Life” platform, aimed at educating communities about the lifestyle changes necessary to lead a heart healthy life.
